Hello

I started a port this month https://github.com/HakS/fpa, when it's ready (or at least it has something working) it can be moved to drupal.org

I'm just working on basic features of the module, not working on any of the ctools modals nor any integration with the filter permissions module.

What's the status of the D8 port?

Status: Needs work means the port has started with a development release.
Since that start not a lot has happened, so no progress. See D8CPT project for the meaning of Status.
The fpa project page doesn't mention alternatives, so there are no known alternatives.
