I just installed Drupal 6 and am very impressed and want to use it for two current new projects...
AND both projects need a complete shopping cart. I love what I see with UberCart addon but this currently only works for Drupal 5. The UberCart for Version 6 is, AFAICS, many months into the future. (It's almost April 2008 now).

I really like the idea of the cart being integrated with the base Drupal for logins and themes etc.

Also these features are important:

  • Coupon Codes for discounts. (limited 1 to a customer/ set expiration date)
  • Affiliate Module... including ability to have a drupal member have
an affiliate page with their own logo, a landing page with logo for their customers
who can wander around anywhere on site and finally purchase our products
with affiliate getting credit... Ideal to show logo/text for the affiliate in the
cart. We plan to have both profit and nonprofit organizations being able to
have affiliate accounts. AND we should have the ability to change INDIVIDUAL
affiliate percentage... Also ... no coupon code if they buy thru affiliate.
  • Admin/Stats page for individual to see their hits/sales stats.
  • Exit cart page that gives them a one time special offer like buy widget X
and choose to add widget Y at a special one time price...

Because of the short implementation required, I am also considering other
hosted shopping carts that may have said features.

So What solutions can my new Dru-Pals recommend? :-)

    TIA

    Hi Bob,

Why not deploy with version 5? It's battle tested, and the modules you need are already there! Once the modules you need have v6 available, upgrade is a snap...

I really doubt that you can find a drupal based cart solution for version 6 within the time you have, so if you want/need v6, you'll likely have to look for a cart solution outside of drupal.

    regards

I agree with noah, if you can't wait until the module are ready to go for Drupal 6, then you should develop against Drupal 5.

    another I agree.

Your options are 5.7 with e-commerce or ubercart. I'm partial to ubercart myself but you might want to check out both to see which meets your use case scenarios the best.

If you insist on 6.1, your options are to write your own module(s), hire someone to write the module(s), see if you can either sponser or offer a bonus to accelarate the upgrading of the e-commerce and ubercart modules to Drupal 6, if the owners of the project are amenable to that.

    Good luck

Start with Drupal 5.7 at the moment, and afterwards update to Drupal 6.

    Bob O,
The Ubercart team is working hard to port Ubercart to Drupal 6. At this point the core development team is polishing of the 1.0 release for Drupal 5. This should be released within two - three weeks. In the mean time several members of the community have already started porting to Drupal 6. We should have an alpha release for Drupal 6 within a month and a production ready release within two months of today ( Monday March 24th 2008)
    Peace,

i've tried digging around on drupal.org and the ubercart forums, but can't really find any status page for the drupal 6 port... is there a place i can follow the progress?
