Convincing Senior Management to Give Back to Drupal
Thousands of companies use Drupal, and developers that work for these companies play a key role in updating Drupal Core, creating new Themes and contributing Modules. In order to continue to grow Drupal, companies need to take an active role in supporting Drupal by contributing time, code, and budget.
Here are resources and ideas to help convince your organization's senior management to support the Drupal project by giving back to the community.

How should I use these resources?
Only you understand your company's internal culture. Our goal on Drupal.org is to provide you with the raw materials to convince your company to make open-source contribution a part of their marketing and strategic plan.
Here's some methods we know have worked:
- If you are integrated with an internal marketing team, ask for help! A good marketer can help you transform your raw passion for Drupal into a convincing presentation for your company's upper management.
- Does your company have an internal blog, newsletter, salesforce, or other means of company-wide broadcast?
- If so, write articles and reference other articles on Drupal.org. A great starting point is the 30-minute Contribution Ideas article.
- If not, talk to your teammates and find an appropriate avenue to broadcast the benefits of giving back. Ultimately, the thousands of contributors providing code to the Drupal codebase have saved countless other companies a lot of money.
- Drupal is an in-demand skill. If you are a growing company — which if you're using Drupal, you are — then point out that contributing to the Review, Editing, and Code Updating on Drupal is essential to becoming part of the community and recruiting other talented Drupalers to join your team.
- Hold small-scale Drupal Camps which focus on educating your teammates on the value of open-source and Drupal. Presenting the information in ways which show how open-source benefits them directly is a great way to gain more advocates to your side.
- If you are a larger-scale company, we recommend referring to Large Scale Drupal as a source for relevant information.
