Hello from Jennifer, your outgoing Drupal Documentation Team leader! As I step down as leader of the Documentation team, I wanted to make one last quarterly status update post for the Documentation Team.
Leadership Change
People in the Drupal project are currently exploring Drupal community governance, and among the questions they'll be thinking about are the leadership and structure of the Documentation Team -- so expect an announcement sometime soon! In the meantime, I'm not going to be hosting Documentation Office Hours, but if someone else wants to schedule an Office Hours, go ahead and post an event to the Documentation groups.drupal.org page.
Olá! Join Drupal project founder Dries Buytaert and core committer Angie Byron this December 6-8 in beautiful Brazil to bring a little Carnaval to Drupal. DrupalCon São Paulo will focus primarily on content for Drupal developers, but there will of course be plenty to offer for designers, themers, project managers, architects, engineers, and those involved with the business side of Drupal.
I helped start the Drupal Association in 2006 because we needed a checking account for the $10,000 or so required to produce a Drupal conference and to support our infrastructure. In a short six years, we grew the Drupal Association from a volunteer-run organization to one of the largest Open Source non-profit foundations with an operating budget of $3 million USD and 8 full-time employees. Today, we support over 18,000 developers, 9,000 conference attendees, 2,300 individual donors, 800 organizations, and a web presence that reaches over two million people every month.
A lot of that credit goes to Jacob Redding, who took the position of Executive Director two years ago. Under Jacob's leadership we have broadened our activities, streamlined our operations, and significantly increased our revenues. We have supported the Drupal community in its exponential growth from 70,000 members to over 800,000 and from 700 committers to over 18,000. And we are just getting started.
On Monday, July 2 from 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM PDT (01:00 to 01:30 UTC), drupal.org will be briefly brought down for updates. The main website, drupal.org, will be inaccessible, as will SSH-based access, both read and write, to all Git repositories hosted on drupal.org. Read-only access to Git repositories over the http:// or git:// protocol will be uninterrupted, as will access to all other parts of the web presence.
you are in a drupal project and face a tough deadline. you hunted down a bug and filed an issue.
the Drupal Issue Tracker is the android app that keeps you tuned about your issues even while you have a beer in the pub.
