Atlanta Drupal Opportunity

I'm looking for a Drupal developer in the Atlanta area to work with me at http://www.voic.us (pronounced voices), a Drupal installation covering politics.

I need help to build a compelling business model around Voic.Us, and would gladly trade equity for the right technical partner.

New free theme for Drupal 5

Hi guys,
My small web design company has just released a new free theme for Drupal. It's a simple theme, CSS-driven (tableless) with a left and right sidebar. You can check out it's demo here: www.osskins.com/drupal5/ and download it from this page: www.osskins.com/main/drupal/free-drupal-theme-bizcenter/2007/03/15

New Drupal site: Worcester Indymedia

We've moved our Indymedia site to Drupal:
http://worcester.indymedia.org

We've used CCK+contemplate+imagefield+imagecache to duplicate the convenient image uploading features of the old Indymedia CMS, sf-active.

Our "how to" is here:

Google now accepting applications for GSoC 2007

Attention all students: you can now submit your applications to Google's Summer of Code program for 2007. There is a huge list of open source programs that are mentoring students this year, and Drupal is one of them. Google pays each successful student $4,500 USD and the Drupal Association gets $500 per student as well. Drupal treats its students well, each of whom will be assigned two mentors to work with. In addition, each student will have their own group on groups.drupal.org, plus lots of exposure during and after the project. For many students, participating in GSoC is the beginning of their career as a professional Drupal developer or consultant.

Please read Drupal's page on Summer of Code 2007, our advice on writing GSoC applications, and the list of proposed projects. There is a group for general GSoC 2007 discussions where you can make contact with mentors and other prospective students, and there is also #drupal-soc on irc.freenode.net where you can usually chat with mentors and students.

Applications must be submitted by March 24.

From the Wired News story:

Remote Installation of Drupal Modules is now Possible!

Security warning: making your modules directory writeable by Apache is strongly discouraged so is using this module. chx

Hi,

In response to a recent post I made, I have pleasure in announcing my first Drupal 5 module. It allows you to download and install a Drupal 5 module just by dragging, dropping and clicking (Firefox only, everybody else has to cut and paste the link!).

The reason for this module is so that I can set up Drupal 5 sites quickly and easily just by selecting a module '.tar.gz' file and clicking an Install button. It makes installation completely painless, try it, it's almost funny how simple it is!

For the time being the module is available at this location: OBJITSU Remote Install and will stay there until my ISP screams band-width at me ;-) Just download, unpack and transfer the 'reminst' folder into the modules directory and hopefully it could be the last module you ever install the hard way.
