Cracking Drupal - Drupal Security book, talks, and review service

Cracking Drupal cover It's nearly 6 months since the release of Cracking Drupal, which makes for a nice milestone to talk about the book and mention a few related developments. Cracking Drupal was written by me (Greg Knaddison - or "greggles") with reviews and assistance from various members of the community with the well-known Károly Négyesi (chx) as the main technical editor.

The book's target audience is broad: site admins who know a little coding, developers who are deep in module development and selection, and front end developers (aka themers) who modify their template.php and tpl.php files.

ST Conch, another new free theme from us is now available at

I have made some changes to reflect comments from users at Drupal.org on this latest theme, ST Conch. Like Alphorn, it is also free.

New wiki: Drupal local groups directory

The new wiki Drupal local groups directory has been recently opened, with local groups classified by world region (Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, North America) and country.

Emulating Voting Actions module in Drupal 6.x using Rules and Token Custom

Thanks to some spiffy and concise coding by codelust, we've managed to implement voting nodes to the front page in Drupal 6.x at our test site.

You will need the following modules installed:

votingapi
rules
token
token custom
vote up/down
vote up/down nodes (or any voting method that increments votingapi_select_votes)
