Drupal Code Survey

This survey is being conducted to determine how much code Drupal implementers actually write. The advent of modules such as CCK, Views, Organic Groups, Workflow, Ubercart, E-Commerce, Panels and Actions along with a dozen or so other modules has a empowered web developers with the ability to create sites writing little or no custom code. Is this true? If you are Drupal user please take the survey at http://www.mahalasoft.co.za

Broke the page.tpl file on the amadou theme. Dont know how to fix but know exactly what is wrong. Need help with that asap.

I need help with putting this page back together. I can tell you what was on the site before but just want to get the right and left sidebars working properly again. Once that is fixed, the problem will be solved.

Right now the site is hosted on siteground and that is where I control the site from.

Thanks

Jay

Drupal SLOW on localhost (XAMPP & WAMP) WINXP

I have drupal up and running (on both web servers on windows XP) but it is extremely (5-90 secs / each request especially admin-->modules). I researched this topic and tried many methods and all did not remedy the problem. Here is some things I did:

1. Disabled the update module
2. Increased memory_limit to over 512M
3. Increased the timeout time to over 180s
4. Removed excess CSS / JS.

Drupal using SSDs: performance report posted

Sun Microsystems is today announcing SSD drives as options for many of its servers. We tested Drupal 6 performance on these drives, compared against traditional HDDs, and also tested a ZFS-based 'Hybrid Storage Pool', which uses SSDs as a front-end I/O cache.

If interested, the report is posted in Sun's "Using Drupal on Sun" Wiki.

Managing PHP memory

Hi. I'm totally green, as my username suggests!

I have just installed Drupal 6.10 on Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex.
All I can say about Drupal is WOW! What awesome configurability on top of a sensible base. Thank you!
I'm moving fast on a steep learning curve. I dabbled in PHP three years ago, so don't shoot me.

When I turned on the Throttling module, immediately ran out of memory for PHP. 16MB is not enough.
So I edited .htaccess in the Drupal root to

php_value memory_limit 64M

Integrating Drupal Cookies/Login with Custom Backend

Ok I have drupal up and running, now I built a custom members area that just checks on username, password, and user level. Is there any way I can use Drupal's cookie information on login and use that to integrate it with the custom backend? What is the easiest way to integrate Drupal's cookies set with a custom NON-drupal php backend that can be customized to check the cookie? Where do I start?
