Need help migrating your site to Drupal?

Is there a good weather module in Drupal

Joomla has a National Weather Center (example http://www.greetin.gs) and I don't seem to be able to find one that comes close. Is there one? I've tried Yahoo wather and Weather but neither is particular elegant.

wordpress to drupal migration problem

dear,
Last night after some trouble I could migrate from wordpress 2.2 to drupal 5x by using wp2drupal module. It successfully imported entries & comments with the categories.

but problem is that I still want to organize my contents as wordpress. In left menu I want all categories (here which is vocabulary terms) to be listed. When click a terms, posts of that terms should be listed.

How can I do this?thanks in advance.

Conversion challange for the Drupal community

Hi all,

I have a XOOPS 2.2.4 site that I have to move to something else. There are techical problems with the site as it is, and the XOOPS backtracking to the 2.0.x branch means that it is no longer possible to impose the structure that I need. i thus look to Drupal, since I have found that some of the features I need is implemented in an intelligent way.

However, I need some help in figuring out what is plossible to to with the myriads of Drupal modules out there, and what will not be possible. I thus urge you to find stuff that I may not be able to implement in Drupal, and suggerstions on what modules to use for the things that are implementable.

The site is a national site for a sports organisation. Therefore, the front page includes information on the sport and the national organisation. This site is maintained by me in terms of contents.

Each club, then, has it's own section of the site and it's own webmaster that is only allowed to change that club's site and do some basic administration of users. The clubs should have the possibility of having their own area in the photo album, news, calendar and such.

Features that I need for this site is:

* News section (for the main organisation and for each club)
* A number of static pages
* Photo album (for the main organisation and for each club)

Converting content site to Drupal, a bit complicated

Hey,

I run a website on Typo3 however I want to move to Drupal since its much more userfriendly and just the amount of power and flexibility that I need. However, I am having a little trouble conceptualizing the structure of my content and how I can customize and use Drupal to help me.

The url of my current site is www.stratcommandcenter.com

Now my site is a little different, and a bit complicated. It is a gaming fansite dedicated to strategy games. The URL I gave you above is the center of this site. However, under it I have sub-sites. Each subsite is dedicated to a specific game series, such as the ones we have currently: Civilization 4 and Total War Series. Each subsite has the same design (however I'd like to customize only the banner for each, I'm sure that can be figured later). Also each game site has its own content structure, its own articles and news and pages. Each subsite has its own subdomain, I am considering to change it to a subfolder though.

Custom site convert to drupal

Hi all,

I have been trying out drupal for a few days now and i am VERY impressed (at the least). But i would like to know a bit more about how i could convert my existing website to drupal. More particular one aspect of that site; an agenda. This agenda has a lot of custom fields, for which i would use cck in drupal. But there is a lot of data in it, which i don't want to loose! So i propose a hypothetical question.

I have the following fields in my database:

import ftp files into drupal (creating new nodes from exsisting files)

--BACKGROUND
I have a FTP directory with a variety of files DOC, PDF, GIF, etc. I am in the process of migrating to Drupal and would like to stop using FTP for file management and would like to use Drupal for file management because it allows me to categorize by taxonomy, add brief summary for each file, and so on. I have far to many files for a manual upload of each file into drupal.

--THE PROBLEM
The problem is that I have yet to find a module that will take my existing files on my server, and create a simple node for each file and attach the file to the node.

I found a module that almost accomplishes this (Audit Files Module) -http://drupal.org/project/auditfiles
but instead of what I want it to do, if this module finds a orphaned file (file without a node that links to the file) it will delete the file.

Anyone ever import 1000s of files into drupal? are there any modules that will import files on the server (or on a FTP) into Drupal?

--ADDED BONUS
In addition to importing the files, i would like to apply a taxonomy term to each file based on its directory on the server
so for example importing the following file:

/var/www/myweb-directory/files/music/The Cure/The Cure Track1.mp3

This would create a node titled "The Cure Track1.mp3" as well as add a taxonomy terms to the node "music" and "The Cure"
