Converting to Drupal

Am having a dickens of a time right now with trying to import images into CCK nodes. Whether I'm using the image module or imagefield, node_import doesn't work.

There seems to be a lot of different ways to put your images into a CCK node, but there seems to be no definitive answer on which way of inserting images is best for mass upload.

Has anyone successfully tackled this? What was your experience?

Can anyone verify whether the conclusions in the belowmentioned post correct? I don't want what is here to be found by some unsuspecting person who is also struggling with this question and then have them waste time if this isn't right.
