I am new to Drupal and Organic Groups. A few weeks ago I started working on a new Drupal 7 site for my church. We will be using CiviCRM for membership management – which integrates with Drupal and OG.
We want our new website to display content to the public. Hidden content (managed by OG) will be made available to registered members. We do not want the hidden groups to be displayed to the public. In other words, if you are not a member of the OG group, you shouldn’t see anything in that group including the group’s homepage.
I think I’ve read every article I could find on the current version of Organic Groups (7.x-1.4). I have modified my default Books, Bogs, Articles, etc., Content Types to include Group Visibility (Public or Private), Group Audience, and Roles and Permissions. The goal is to let the author choose to publish their content publicly or privately as well as choose to which groups.
I’ve pieced together the following steps for setting up groups:
To create a new group:
(1) Structure > Content Types > Add Content Type
(2) Create new group (Foo) and place radio button beside “Group Type” and “Not Group Content Type” (unless you want the Group to be able to be a sub group of another group)
