Groups as Roles through Taxonomy Access Control

Searching for the best way of rolling out a complex multi-site, multi-group framework for an international NGO, we have developed a solution based on roles and taxonomy access control which we find clean and powerful. We want to share it in detail with the Drupal community (1) to test it and see whether it stands up, or whether other Drupallers tried it and found it wanting, and (2) in case it is of help to others in the community.

Installation of Buzzmonitor & Drupal

I'm trying to install BuzzMonitor on my account at a webhotel, but with little luck.
Since I'm very new to Drupal and the instructions for custom installations is, let me say not so extensive, I struggle with questions like "Do I install Drupal 5 first and then BuzzMonitor on top of that? In that case, where do I put the BuzzMonitor files?".

achilles heel of user pages - filtering by "uid" - need your feedback

Using "usernode" and "nodeprofile" I can auto-link each "user/*" page to another content type (lets say I call it "UserHomepage")
that can be styled and edited through views/ php templating like any other node. cool... I want to filter a views/block to only show posts of a certain content-type, belonging to the current user, on that users homepage.
WONDERING, COULD THIS BEEN DONE WITH VIEWS FILTERING AS APPOSED TO ADDING PHP? (which I'm not to good at)

I could first filter the block via the Block settings to only show for path "UserHomepage/*" or whatever so the block itself only shows up on users pages. Then I would need to make a views filter that filters the block by content type (i.e. imagegallery)..
fine so far. But then I need an additional views filter that filters by "uid" I guess thats drupalese for "current logged-in user id"
not sure if its a drupal-defined php function or what.. - do you know what filter type I can use for that?
Can that be done by a views filter or do I need to enter a line of in that views php input (filter) type
(i.e. in the header text space etc..) or the (i.e.) userhomepage.tpl.php ? Is there a standard php snippet
and list of values etc.. for making additional views filters?

The above would be a strategy for using cck views for more of the userhomepage hacks, v.s. php template

No "Create Group" option under content.

Currently the system allows a new group to be created when you post a blog entry, wiki page, etc., but I can't find a way to allow the system to have a "Create Group" option under the "Create Content". And then from there, the system should create a wiki page for the group, a forum, etc.

Help W/ Building a Social Networking Site

Hi,

Can anyone help with building from scratch a social networking site? I've already installed drupal in my site, and then I followed this Michelle's instruction in creating a site (http://shellmultimedia.com/tutorials/user-profiles-version-1) but it didn't work. I tried several times to create a new user, but no e-mail confirmation is ever received.

Regarding the tutorial by Michelle, there were some problems.
