Open Letter to Fabio (maintainer of the forlorn Video module). Please sign

I encourage other users to please write a comment below if you feel like you'd really like to see more development on this module (or even extend a hand).

------

Fabio, Fabio.
Where have you gone?
To the gym, to work, perhaps to Saigon?
It is but so sad that I must turn away,
from video.module to another with cck.
I do not wish to jump ship, indeed I love so many features.

It is just feels like if I install it, in the not so distant future, I may be unsupported.
I would like this letter to let you know that I finally got it working!
I am nervous however that all my efforts may be thwarted...
by 6.0. with no active development and people like me pining for intro video, thumbnail block, easy user control,
"false" play on load option, vertical video positioning, and multisite compatibility,
run cron on submit, add a watermark, or attach video to other nodes...that last one is my personal goal!

I would be false not to say what keeps my urge to leave at bay.
Things like automatic vertical sizing, no-reupload, and a very pretty player.
Nicely packaged with no need to edit things in the template or even contemplate. I like that!
Embedding youtube, google, and ogg to boot. Using a video RSS feed and data about data. Sir for these thing, a tip of my hat.

Adding meta-information to media

I have been wandering around with an idea for a while now, which I may just work into a Drupal module if I get the chance to do so.

Our websites are increasingly filled with rich media, such as audio and video. This is fine, because rich media, as the term hints at, is much better at conveying a message. I myself, work in the academic world and over there knowledge sharing is a very big thing of course.

In my own organization, I'm a strong proponent to recording (video or audio) as much seminars and similar events as possible. The problem with these events, I find, is that too often a lot of energy is put into organizing them, while when they're over, no one else can benefit from these lectures, until a new one is held. In comes podcasting and vodcasting, to make events such as these more valuable to others, even after they are over.

The problem, I find, with rich media such as audio or video is that they are very linear. They have a beginning and an end, and unlike with text, you can't skim these media very easily to find a point which would be interesting for you. And unless someone who creates the content also thoroughly describes the rich media content, the contents of your rich media don't show up in search engines. Tough luck.

I'd like do do something about that, by creating a community driven annotation tool.

Users should be able to :

Video

I have problem into video module.
I am using op_video module & flv player.
movie is playing very well but it is not audioable.

Using following combination:
op_video module
ffmpeg install
flv player
lame codec
mp3 codec

I am also trying flash player & video module
But from video module it takes to long time for video uploading.
After increasing post_max size, upload size same problem for uploading.

Image Gallery, but...need advice!

Hi Drupalfans! :)

I am developing a website for a big community, which needs a image gallery with following attributes:

-When the user is registering on the website ONLY one image must be uploaded. Afterwards the user can change the picture, but cant add more pictures, it has to be only one picture/user. This picture has to be resizeable (thumbnails) and on different parts of the website.

-The userbase is giant, so the images should not be memorized in the MySQL db.

-The visual apperance must be highliy configurable.
