Saw some maxiehost ads and thought this was a bit too good to pass up. I am using dwhs.com right now and reasonably happy but thinking of having a back up just in case. Any thoughts?
Oh maxiehost is at http://www. maxiehost.com/us/index.htm They have fantastico so I assume drupal is supported. They require payment by paypal but do allow month to month.
Me and a friend fellow Drupal user and contributor took up a dedicated server 3 months back and have used Xen to create 4 virtual slots. We are currently using only 2 of them and we intend to give the 2 remaining slots to interested people.
You can find the details of the server here: http://brainlessphp.blogspot.com/2006/10/share-our-web-hosting-server.html
Hope you could help. I've done some hacking with Drupal 5 on localhost and now I'll like to move it to a webhost. Drupal 5 installs the database and tables automatically while in Drupal 4 this is done manually abd you can see what's going on.
Could you advice how to set things up on the web host using Druapl 5? How to set up tables, scriots, etc? (I know that Drupal 5 is still beta so my website wont be launched publically yet).
I am looking for a hosting service that will give me more bandwidth, SSH access, drupal friendly and more important Digg/Slashdot effect friendly. This is going to be an open-source project so people will be tempted to download more and since it is a service kind - it requires lots of processing and bandwidth (We donot want to use sourceforge - as it is going to be a service kind of app - ie the app will require constant communication with server tool for processing)
