Hosting support

At the present I am running two testsites for a little community project.

One of the sites is my development site at home that I access via DYNDNS. That site has got no problems since it is running on a dedicated server with a fast DSL connection.

The other site is beeing hosted by STRATO in Berlin on a virtual server. The URL is: http://www.zooot.de

i m interested in hostway.com shared hosting plan. i would like to setup with multi-site setting. is there anyone having experience in such setting in hostway? is the setup smooth? any difficulties encountered? please share your experience.

Looking for a host for an international NGO's site.

1. website and help desk multilingual, but at least english and dutch.
2. easy access to control panel to manage e-mail addresses etc.
3. multiple e-mail accounts
4. drupal capable
5. telephone helpdesk in europe, preferably NL or BE (no international calls)
6. spamfilter
7. european (euros) bank account, to avoid excess money transfer costs (no creditcard)
8. MySQL
9. webspace <200 MB

I think there are a lot of discussion about whether 1and1 is a good web hosting solution for Drupal site. And now, I see that they will provide 3 months free service to their new customer from shared web hosting, vps hosting to dedicated hosting.

In general, Drupal doesn't work well in their shared web hosting solution, and the dedicate hosting from 1and1 is pretty good but a little bit more expense. But what about their VPS hosting? With their 3 months free hosting, it's a great chance for you to test it by yourself.

We have a server that several sites are hosted on. Recently we launched our first Drupal site on this server and have had the server run out of memory several times. Here are some details:

* The server has 2GB of RAM in it.
* PHPs memory_limit is set to 96MB in .htaccess for this site
* This site has it's cron run every hour
* We have a cron hook that makes SOAP calls to a 3rd party. This hook takes about 5 minutes to run

I think free hosting is not reliable. I need fast and inexpensive hosting with a large number of domain names and SSH.
I would be grateful for your recommendations
