Hosting support

Ok...I am the designer and an Drupal disciple got me going with Drupal and the backend. I started off with mediatemple and my site seemed to crash and freeze up every two weeks. Then, this associate hosted it and things click along ok but still it goes offline...he has some serious health issues that concern me - for his welfare and my clients website. So, I need to find a solid host in the US - and one that drupal users are happy with. I saw some nice reviews for liquid web and just called them....they seem knowledgeable enough but not really drupal specific.

I would just like to start a thread to give the guys at Drupal Value Hosting an opportunity to explain the current outage and maybe provide an ETA for when we'll be back up and running.

Or if anybody else has some insight, that would be great.

I am building a new Linux server as VPS within a XenServer 5.0 - only for hosting bunch of Drupal sites. I want to have a minimal Linux distribution that performs best for Drupal. I do not want any control panel. Ideally, ps -A should show minimal number of processes running (hopefully only few more than mysql, apache and php). I am considering using Gentoo 2008. Any ideas? Or experiences with Drupal on Gentoo as a VPS in XenServer 5.0?

Are there any known problems with Gentoo 2008 within XenServer for hosting Drupal production sites?

I'm considering the xs4all advanced UNIX website offering for hosting a Drupal site. Has anyone links to manuals / web pages describing how to install and maintain Drupal on a advanced (unix) website offering from xs4all?

Hey guys,

I have just moved my site to a new server the current server and domain is still mickhall-photos.com however on the new server all files database etc are all correct but it looks really odd and also the links do not work the new url is http://213.175.197.118/~mickhall/ (will transfer domain when all works fine) any idea why this has happened?

Really appreciate any help..
