Theme development

I am learning how to theme Drupal using the book "The Definitive Guide to Drupal 7", but I have encountered an issue. I am trying to override the "read more" link on the home/front page. The code provided in the book is as follows:

i try to obtain a result as this site http://drupalize.me/ with a wrapper that stand out from the body and contain the menu and the content div

i use the page.tpl.php located in the system module directory and try to insert the navigation div in the div content

but it doesn't work

I am trying to install Bootstrap theme in Drupal 8, but am not able to install it. This was trail to start with drupal 8 themeing. Any help on this welcomed,

I get error message

"The bootstrap theme was not found.
Your version of Drupal is no longer supported. Upgrading is strongly recommended! See the available updates page for more information and to install your missing updates."

I did updates but still same issue.

I'm feeling rather dense. All the demos of Panopoly show what are promising features. I just don't know where to start developing my theme. IE: Where is the equivalent of creating a page template that holds main navigation, footer and body styles? What I've read seems to indicate you don't edit the page.tpl.php file to do this. I'm getting lost between Panelizer, Panels, Panes, Panel Pages, Layouts, etc. Beginning to contemplate going back to a basic install if I can't wrap my brain around the basics here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Can anyone guide or tell me how I can uninstall a pervious theme from my drupal 7x site.

I by mistake installed a module/theme (Nuncles) into my drupal site( via install new modules) and ended up updating the site, and now I can´t log in as an administrator, nor clear caches or make any changes through Drush to re-enter my site.

Furthermore, I also tried logging on to my remote server and local server to find "variable table"- theme_themes:settings to clear pervious theme template. And still no sign of life.

Is there any other way around this ?

I'm using professional theme from drupal and I would like to remove the time stamps and author details. How do I do so?
