Theme development

Hi,

I am looking for a theme looking more or less like this : https://imaginary.org/

Looks pretty simple but I don't know if such a theme already exists, so that I could only chage a couple of things.

I'm facing a problem with image url path in theme. base_path doesn't give the same url depending on the page and the area in the page. Why?

I have an event content type. Within the event content type I have the date field. Right now it just shows the date which is fine but once the date passes I want to dynamically show a phrase like "This date has passed".

I've searched all over for the answer to no avail. I've tried many scripts but none have worked. I've made a custom node (node--events.tpl.php) and tried to add both php and javascripts into it. The result is either it will always say "This date has passed" or it never will. Below is an example of a script I've used. Please help me.

I'm trying to change header with a back ground image and change length of header but leave the content area the same.

I want the header to be covered completely  by the background image .

Ive looked for div but the changes don't seem to work.

In a Drupal 8 multisite setup I have several sites with identical services.yml files containing:

twig.config:
    debug: true

One of the sites provides (as expected) Twig theme debug comment sections, but two of the other sites do not. Everything else works fine, I haven't noticed any problems with any of the sites, just the twig debug is missing from the HTML. So far I have:

I had worked with the ZEN theme creating a sub-theme several years ago and found it relatively easy to style. I just installed the latest V7 and am having a very hard time locating styling tags for menus, and other things on the page.tpl.php and adding or changing conditions in the styles.css within the sub-theme. One of the perplexing thing for me is the relationship between SASS and the styles and I wonder if I must use SASS or directly work on the styles.css sheet.
