Cosmic Lighthouse Metaphysics Ezine

Hi all,

I have hesitated to write about my website for some time because the nature of Cosmic Lighthouse Metaphysics Ezine can be rather controversial. So I just wish to point out that Cosmic Lighthouse embraces all spiritual paths and merely seeks to explore the ultimate reality with our readers so that each can be empowered to be the person she or he wants to be.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

I started building Cosmic Lighthouse from April this year and finally released our first issue of the ezine on 4th July (independence day).

I run a web design and video production business and more or less singlehandedly created the Cosmic Lighthouse website. My co-founder is just as equally important, but his contribution is of a financial, strategic and content nature, i.e. non-technical or design. I happen to have a background in both design and computing, so I am able to handle both technical implementation and design work myself.

I was choosing between Drupal and Joomla and eventually I chose Drupal especially for the reason that it gave me the ability to assign various users different permission levels. As an ezine, I would like to give my partner non-administrative rights but rights to edit content. We also foresee having other users like volunteers. So this is a deciding factor.

ivarsmusikk.no guitar online store

just wanted to get some feedback on the site.. ive been struggling with it for quite some time now, and to even get anything happening i just took the site live.. means i gotta work with it :)

http://ivarsmusikk.no/

the text is in norwegian, my apologies for those not speaking it..

there are a few mods im gonna do to it still.. there will be an image gallery for each product and also a soundclip or 2 or 3 that we will record ourselves.. all text is written by us, no copy paste from the manufacturers/importers site.

we have tried to keep it simple in design.. nothing too flashy or annoying. shopping should be easy as should be finding your way through.. feedback on how we manage is really appreciated!

all other cms's i tried had flaws that i couldnt live with..

ezpublish was nice, but the requirement they imposed on the hosting made it impossible for me to get it running properly.. no apache2 also php4, no php5
i tried joomla.. it was easy to set up, but i HATE the fact that it wasnt 100% css configurable.. tables suck!

so i started looking for other versions, and came by drupal.. seo friendly.. hehe.. already on top of some products if you search norwegian pages only
pure css.. and i love it!
its also challenging for the mind.. gotta learn something new every time i wanna change something.. be it php, css formatting.. :)

Nerdliness.com - Real life nerds solving real life problems.

Being one of the contributors, I'm just a little biased, but I'm a big fan of the design Jeremy Caldwell created for our new joint project, http://www.Nerdliness.com. It's clean and pretty, does a great job of letting the content come through.

The idea is to let us three nerds share some of the solutions we've created to solve actual problems we've faced on the job. The level of content will range from beginner to advanced, depending on the particular issue, but we think others could tweak some of the stuff we post to solve their own dilemmas.

We're still in the process of building, but things are coming along smoothly. Jeremy built the template from the ground up and we're using various Drupal modules as we get things going. Of course, we use CCK, Pathauto, and Views, but we're also playing with Google AdSense Injector, XML Sitemaps, Devel (on the dev copy), GeSHi Filter, and FCKeditor, among others.

SteffensDinners.com - Photos and Recipes

I finally got around to starting my personal cooking website, SteffensDinners.com, and beginning to write down and publish my favorite recipes. The plan is to add recipes and photos over time and turn the site into my personal virtual cookbook.

The site uses Drupal 5.2 with an Andreas01-based theme and a bunch of additional modules:
Alinks, Amazon tools and Amazon filter for book links, Adsense, CCK, Captcha, Image, Img_assist and Meta tags. I customized some of the modules.
