Community recommendations website: Recommended.co.nz

We've just launched a new community driven recommendations website, using Drupal.

http://www.Recommended.co.nz makes use of a number of great Drupal modules including:

- Open Calais (tagging)
- Solr (search)
- Modr8 (moderation)
- VoteAPI (voting)

...Plus a custom theme.

The site includes recommendations on books, movies, places, health and wellbeing -- with a New Zealand focus.

Check it out.

Cheers
Matt

Drupal Covers the Democratic Convention

We've hashed together a web site to aggregate together news coverage of the 2008 Democratic Convention. There are 124 bloggers covering the convention, and we are pulling together as many of them as we can in one spot (I'm one of the credentialed bloggers, going as the Wisconsin state blogger).

We're using FeedAPI to aggregate together the coverage, and are using OpenCalais to automatically tag the incoming entries. This has been working really well, and we're taking on more blogs all the time.

Our IT department site launch

http://www.ouritdept.co.uk

We recently helped Our IT department relaunch their main website to help bring their online presence inline with their company image.

Technical design

Some of their core requirements for the site was the ability to have full control over all the content and how it was published, which of course Drupal handles very well. But also to have vacancies listed on the site that could require quite extensive question sets added to the application forms.

We decided to use CCK to add some checkboxes to the job advert page type that allowed the content managers to just select what type of application questions should be added to the job specs.

Those application forms where then made using Webform and were all linked together by creating a .tpl files for the job advert page type.

This means they can now add their latest job vacancies in minutes, getting them out as soon as possible for people to view.

Module highlights

Webform - Used as the base of all the forms on the site as well as dealing with all the job application forms.

Views - Used to list the companies IT solutions.

Jquery update - Was required by the JavaScript we added to the solutions page.

CCK - Used to add options to the job pages for form selection and other core pages.

Webform - Used as the base of all the forms on the site.

Community with Drupal

I have used drupal to construct a community site, which is a Chinese community, welcome to visit and give some advise, the URL IS: 芥菜种书房

Building the site mayteprida.com

Mayte Prida is a television hostess in Telemundo TV Chain, a cancer survivor, and a writer, and one of the most prominent Hispanic woman fighting for women rights and better health in the USA.

Mayte Prida needed a new version of her web-site www.mayteprida.com that could show widely her activities, and most important ,a bilingual site that can be read in both languages Spanish and English.

New graphic design

Different criteria was used in the design of this new version of the web site, a new home page was created with more navigation options and that points out certain elements as a presentation text or links to Mayte Prida’s television show, or to the Cancer Fight Foundation. The new design keeps pink as an important color (it is favorite in the fight against cancer), but not so thick, achieving an easy to read lighter screen.
