Post installation

I just installed negen9 and I really like the theme. I do not, however, want to have a three column site. I'd rather it be a two column site with the nodes on teh left and the blocks on the right.

It seems that the theme is set up for a three column site. The node justifies to the left which leaves the background exposed until the block on the right. I'd say there is a good 150px of exposed background. How can I resize my node content so that it takes up all available space?

Subscriptions is certainly a nifty bit of kit for a Drupal site.

But what happens when I post a new story in a category which has 10,000 "subscribers" ? Silent failure? Errors? Server death?

Or will it work?

I'm having problems getting the quicktags module to work. First I followed some instructions that I read somewhere on this site (I forget where now) and put the quicktags folder into my modules folder (it only contains 1 file: quicktags.module) That didn't work. Then I just put quicktags.module in the modules directory. That didn't work either. I enabled the quicktags module, but there is no effect. Also on the modules page, no description is shown for quicktags.

How do I change the text label on the search page under "Restrict search to:" for the Contact directory to say "Contacts" instead of "contact_dir"? Where is it in the code? I searched the module file but did not see anything that worked for me.

I've read that Drupal is supposed to be very fast, but it takes forever for me to navigate from page to page or node to node. I know it's not an image issue because my images are compressed, and it my site is still slow to retrieve and render my pages when I am on nodes that are almost entirely text based (such as when I am creating content or navigating around the administration menus)
