Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Problem modifying MySQL tables in order to install modules

I'm running my own standard (LAMP) server with multiple virtual hosting sites on it.

Whenever I have to install a module that requires tables to be added to MySQL, I get an error:

"No such file or directory found"

Here's what I'm typing into my console:

mysql -u -username -ppassword databasename < module.sql

And it doesn't matter which module I'm trying to install.

Installed Drupal in folder under root directory. Now, what are my options for site's homepage?

Hello,
Since we were playing around with Drupal on a site we were redesigning anyway, we decided to install Drupal under the main root location, like http://www.sitenamegoeshere.com/main/.

My question is now that we have it running, have modules installed, pathauto working correctly, etc., is there anyway we can manage our main site's index page from Drupal or do we have to reinstall everything all over again under the main root dir. on the server?

Is there a way to make a hyperlink on a page accessible to only registered users?

I'm interested in setting up my site so that Anonymous users can view much of what's on it but can only access certain nodes or hyperlinks if they register.

What's the best way to do this?

Thanks,

More functionality in Users section

Is there any module that turns the user drupal/?q=user/2 or whoever into their own section? Right now it shows recent blog entries but I would like it to show more of their content.
So it would show galleries, blog entries, pages etc.
Thanks

Admin Notification for User Profile Changes

Is there anyway I can be notified when a user updates their profile. The Notify module doesn't do this.

The reason being is that there are a few fields in the user's profile that I use else where and need to change if a user updates them. With nearly 200 users I can't take thte time to constantly manually check to see if any updates have been made.
