Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Search not indexing

Hi, I am having a problem with search not indexing. I have searched the forums and applied the following steps, but still no luck:

1) cron is running - no errors on output
2) pages and forum content are viewable by anonymous
3) tried pressing the re-index button
4) added $user = user_load(array('uid' => 1)); to make it run as admin (at line 11 of cron.php)

The site is www.greenopia.com
The drupal version is 4.7 cvs from April 14th

older MySQL version can cause this? (vid int(10) unsigned error)

Hi there!

I´m installaing the Views Module, but couldn´t install the database...

It is installed on my server: MySQL 4.0.25

It appears this error when I try to add the tables with views.mysql file:

Modifying the Default Terminology

I'm having trouble modifying the default English strings. Right now all I want to change are references to "blogs", for example to something like "journals". I'm sure I'll find a number of other things to tweak to better suit my site, so I'm looking for the most sensible way to go about it.

I've been searching for answers and I've come across a few threads about this very thing, but those solutions so far haven't worked for me. When I search for "blogs", or any variation, under "manage strings", or even when I leave the field blank to return all strings, I get nothing. I grabbed a copy of blog-module.pot and made the changes I wanted, but then discovered that I can't import into English anyhow.

So, my question is threefold:

1.) I understand that I can create a new language, but I think having two versions of English would be kind of silly. Since you can't delete the default English, would users not still be able to switch to it and get the wrong information on pages I've modified?

2.) Assuming that I'm right about the first question, is there a more sensible way to change strings in the default English?

3.) Is it even possible to change the /blog/ URL without messing things up?

Thanks in advance for any replies. I'm trying to be thorough, so hopefully it's not just long-winded, and somebody will give me a hand. I'm very much a fan of the forum-based sup

How can I disable a single 'collapsed' field/area?

While the ability to have callapsed areas in long forms is generally very good, I find that novice users are often confused because they do not see their 'options' immediately visible. This is particularly confusing if a 'required' field is initially hidden by the 'collapsed' area.

Is there a way to set specfic areas of a content creation form to be 'expanded'?

Thanks.

Need help with RSS feeds

I have spend *days* hunting around the drupal site regarding how RSS feeds get generated, and from what I've seen, Drupal only automatically generates RSS feeds for items associated with a taxonomy terms. Which means that if you've created a page that is not associated with a term, a feed is not generated.

So I guess my question is whether you can have Drupal generate a feed for content that is not associated with a taxonomy term.

drupal and subdomains... issues

i have recently put together a new site (theme and drupal install) in a root/drupal

Now i have the site working, i wanted to have the subdirectory as the web directory (dreamhost automatic redirection: where users get taken to on typing the domain name).

As i have the settings.php (config file) pointed to the subdomain, i thought i could just change the path to the root and this would be ok.

Alas, no (am i naive on this?).

The links to the database are fine (i.e the content shows up), but the themes do not work...
