Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Help guide me with my new project

Im new to Drupal and I am playing around with it. I have realized that it is a very advanced system that can do many things. I still have a lot of exploring to do but I was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on how I should begin my journey to starting my Drupal website.

My plan is to build a travel website. This website will be based around Thailand only, but will later expand into other south-east asian countries.

My main issue is setting up the structure of the website.

It will need to be built in a way that will be very organized with Thailand, and then easilly allow me to add in the other countries down the road.

At first the website will only feature static content, such as stories, travel information, history, and other details about the country. I will be going into great details about every inch of the country so I will need an easy way for people to navigate this extensive information.

The website will also feature an extensive business directory.

later On I will add user features, like travel blogging and photo sharing, so this will need to be planned ahead for as well.

So as for the general structure, Im unsure as how to set this up.

I want users to be able to browse by location, such as "north" "south" "islands" as well as browse via specific names, such as "location" -> "provence" -> "city" etc

The website will feature extensive info on each area and should also interact with the business directory and possible display the related businesses that I have stated are in that area.

forum created, but posts don't show up anywhere

I'm scratching my head a bit here, i created a forum container, then the actual forum with no problems. I posted with no problem, specifically, the node was created and i can reach the node directly but when i go to the forum, there are no nodes showing up there.

Anybody have any ideas?

I go to the admin panel, and it doesn't give me any errors!

Thanks!
Lu

Trouble integrating PHP script

I write a semi-popular webcomic (http://www.bluecrashkit.com), and am converting my site to Drupal. I'm still using the following script to display the strip on the main comic page, but when I try to incorporate it into a Drupal page, I get a timeout error when saving, sometimes on line 147 (when I try with the frontpage module), and sometimes at or around line 197 (when I try embedding the script directly, embedding the calling page, or when doing a PHP include).

Reverse hook_ lookup?

I've been working with drupal for over a year now and really love how it all works. I'm just now getting into development of a few things, and deploying larger sites. Previously I'd used drupal for single-user sites, blogs, and the basic simple stuff.

Now I'm dealing with a bear of a site - many contrib modules, and lots to consider. So the question is, is there a way to tell where stuff showing up on a page comes from.

SSL mode doesn't read style.css

Drupal 4.6.6. Ecomm.mod and Authorized.net module

This has me confused --- as I know so very little about the ins and outs of SSL.

When using the ecomm module and I click on the button to process a Credit Card (using authorized.net - module) I lose my theme or better defined I'm not reading style.css and I see a raw code block page --- like you would if the site was theme-less. Credit Card form is there and useable - just lost all other css formatting.

settings for uploaded modules unavailable

(This has happened on all the add on modules I have tried but I will use Poor Man's Cron for this example.)
Drupal: 4.6
Here's what I'm doing:
1. Find and download Poor Man's Cron.
2. Extract and upload. (Tried just the single file and the whole folder.)
3. Go to Modules and and activate module.
4. Click on Settings and then Poormanscron.
