Post installation

I installed Drupal and I'm very happy about it works.

I logged in as admin and added some content, story, blog, forum topics...

I also set blocks to appear some in left side and some in right side...I so little adjusted layout.

The strange thing is that when I try to browse Home page as an anonymous user I see the initial message:

"Welcome in your new site etc...". I can't see any of forum message in rigth side...no calendar for archives...

How can I set drupal to be a site to READ for every anonymous ?

I am wanting to use the auction module in the e-commerce suite, but am wanting to be able to create a list of fields for specific information for a user to fill in when posting their auction. CCK and Flexinode seem great for building custom content types from scratch, but what about when you want to build on an existing content type? I'd really appreciate any input here.

I download 4.7, set up the mySQL database, and got to the first page. But when I clicked on "Create new account", I got the directory page instead. The page was title "Index of /drupal-4.7.0". The url shows "http://localhost/drupal-4.7.0/?q=user/register".

Could anyone tell me how I could fix this? Did I do something wrong? By the way, I am brand new at web programming so i am pretty ignorant!

Quick question: Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the listing of all nodes at http://mysite/node ? My content is not well-formatted for this type of listing and I would like to redirect this page somewhere else, say to a 404 page or to the homepage. Anyone know?

I upgraded to 7.0, and since then, the archives module has not worked; it simply goes to a white screen when you click on a given day or attempt to change months on the calendar.

I've tried flushing tables and so forth..is there anything anyone can recommend here?
