Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Insert user's name in mass email? (Massmailer)

Just wondering if one can auto-insert a user's name in an email sent through Massmailer?

i.e. Dear %name,

I tried the above and variations of it, but it all just printed %name rather than the user's name.

Cheers
Alynner

Reducing database queries

My web hosting company caps the database queries at 50000 per hour and then restricts database access for the rest of the hour, probably to keep the cpu time down for all the other clients on the server. This is a new problem and is likely to be happening due to an upcoming event we are pushing on our site.

Confused about photo based community options

I trying to build a community site where photo's and to a lesser degree video are integral to a large user base (over 1k). What I would like is that the user can have thier own image gallery, can link those images into thier profile, easy linking of the images into forum posts, comments, thumbnails, blog support, and generally a very taxonomy based system.
A simple system, I dont care so much about image handling as I do about image presenting and layout. It should be able to catagorize thousands of images based on user, flickr style tags, search, etc.

problem with taxonomy & breadcrumbs

From what I've been reading here, this is not an unusual area to have problems in. Nothing I've read so far, though, appears to address my issue, so here it goes:
I have created a site that almost entirely uses flexinodes for the security access I can gain with the taxonomy access module, and now I'm getting feedback that the site is hard to navigate because there is no "site structure". I've created a taxonomy:
Home
-- Problem fix
---- Client level issue
---- Server level Issue
-- Procedure
---- Installation
-- Script
-- System Information

to help with this issue. This isn't yet complete, but I noticed it doesn' t seem to be helping. I want to get it working before I go any further. I've installed the taxonomy_context module, but have so far been unsuccessful in acheiving the desired breadcrumbs. Side note: I'm using the bluemarine theme, with adding our logo as the only change.

On the top of the pages in the drupal admin settings section, I see: Home >> administer >> settings
On the top of my pages, I see: Home
This is true no matter what page I choose. I do see the taxonomy terms for that page down in the page content with the page owner and date submitted, but not a breadcrumb trail. If I click there on the taxonomy term I want to use for the breadcrumbs, I see (for example): Home » Type of internal Document » Internal Home » Procedure

Get directory page when trying to create first account???

I download 4.7, set up the mySQL database, and got to the first page. But when I clicked on "Create new account", I got the directory page instead. The page was title "Index of /drupal-4.7.0" and it lists the directory or the dupal-4.70 folder. The url shows "http://localhost/drupal-4.7.0/?q=user/register".

Could anyone help and tell me how I could fix this? Did I do something wrong? By the way, I am brand new at web programming so i am pretty ignorant!
