Post installation

Has anyone else experienced this? I couldn't find a bug report.

I have a page that i have set as the home page in my general settings.

I have some blocks that are set to appear in the right column of as well as a few other pages.

However when I edited the node that was the content of the front page, those blocks disappeared from the page, but still appear on the other pages....

This happened once, and then they turned up again a day later, but it has happened again.

How can I display the first line of the last (or first X characters followed by ...) of the most recent comments for a node in the node's teaser?

So it would look something like this:

I am currently creating a new content type using the CCK that will be used as a biography for a person. I would like that persons name to appear as the title (ie. Jon Doe) but would like the first and last names to be their own fields so that I can use them individually should I choose. Is it possible for me to use something like:

I've created some menus, one parent along with a few children. When clicking the parent, it does not display the children. Yet works with all default relationships drupal has by default. Also, I can see the children under the parent.

Currently I have this menu:

Tools (parent)
-hammer (child)
-saw (child)

Any ideas?

okay is there a way i can make it so a little module thing will appear in the create content page/story page that will allow me to select an image and it automatically inserts an image code into the content area? the reason i want this is because it'll be easier to select logo images without manually typing in the image code and image url.

im thinking about a dropdown list with names for easy reference.

how can i set default options for all users which would force users to have certain things selected in their users preferences, such as subscription to a newsletter and the ability to receive messages?
