Hello, a web agency has built us a website using Drupal, they specifically told us NOT to update it ourselves and instead, only they could do this. As far as im aware, the site has not been backed up since it was launched in December 2020. Every time I go into the back end to make changes, im told by Drupal that it needs updating. We are currently on Drupal version 8.
We are about to switch over to a new agency to look after the site but they have told us the following:
I have a D8 site with about 1000 nodes with its content published. I am developing a new D9 site with a fresh database as per its requirement ( not the method of upgrading the existing site as it requires many feature modifications , additions & optimizations ).
Could I get a suggestion for the best way to recreate the pages with its content in D9 ? Do we have to do that manually only or are there any quick methods to accomplish this ?
I have a neglected out of date site with lots of content. It's drupal core 5.7 and I would like to upgrade it to at least Drupal 7, maybe Drupal 8. Most of the modules used are not supported.
What is the best way of going about upgrading this site?
