Upgrading Drupal

hi,

On my test domain i've copied my production drupal 5.x install with content and all works fine..

When i upgrade this to drupal 6.x all my content has gone! Is this normal?

or do i now need to export content from 5.x to 6.x somehow? I've had a look at backup&migrate but not sure it would be for this job? or have i just forgot to do something?!

i don't fancy copy & pasting all the content and adjusting the publish dates etc...

ps i've got the same modules installed and all the 5.x mods were the newest.

Here's a weird problem that I ran into. I have two freshly installed versions of Drupal (locally -> xampp1.6.8).
I have D6.8 and I just installed D6.9. The problem is that I get the following error only in D6.9 (in../?q=admin/reports/status):

I had a Drupal 5 site with lots of modules added in, working fine until one day there was no more server :(

Being the good admin that I am, I made regular backups, and have one at the ready.

The new server has Drupal 6. What would be the best way to proceed? I can try to load the D5 data, but I dont think that will work so well. I am reasonably well versed in SQL and server administration, so Im ready for whatever this might take.

I am pretty much a drupal novice, trying to upgrade from 6.3 to 6.8. When running the update.php script I get this message:

An HTTP error 501 occurred. http://my.site/update.php?id=5&op=do

501 is the "not implemented" return code, kind of a rare one. The page refers me to the error page (update.php?op=results), which says:

When Drupal 7 comes out, is it possible to go directly to 7 from 5.x?

Hey guys,

After troubleshooting for hours, I decided to post my problem here. I just upgraded my site to drupal 6 however, secondary links are missing from the entire setup! Also, I have duplicate menu items such as 2 admin links, 2 log out links in the navigation block. Is there a way to manually reinstall menu tables on my database?
