This forum is for questions about upgrading an existing Drupal site. Don't forget to read the UPGRADE.txt file that comes with every Drupal download.

Copy your backed up "files" and "sites" directories to the Drupal installation directory

Step 8 in the UPGRADE.txt file states "Copy your backed up files and sites directories to the Drupal installation directory..."

Is this actually as simple as copying the contents of the /sites directories and overwriting the newly installed /sites directories from the unpacked download? I ask this because I would assume that the contents and structure of the settings.php file would change overtime as a result of new releases and versions.

So I want to be sure I don't overwrite the file and lose anything that is new in the upgraded setting.php

Remove all old files and directories from the Drupal installation directory

Step 6 in the UPGRADE.txt file states "Remove all old files and directories from the Drupal installation directory."

Are the "old files and directories" referred to here my existing Drupal system files and directories? My very first install of Drupal was v6.13 and I am now upgrading to v6.14 so beyond my current version files and directories I do not have any old ones.

Verify the new configuration file to make sure it has correct information

Step 9 in the UPGRADE.txt file states "Verify the new configuration file to make sure it has correct information."

I know this statement sounds simple and straight forward, but it is way too presumptuous for me.

What exactly does it mean?
What is the "new configuration file" being referred too?
And how do I "verify it to make sure it has correct information"?

Thanks.

export content of one node typ (forum) from drupal 5 and import to drupal 6

Hi all,

i was upgrading drupal from 5 to 6. Everything is ok.

But i did it on local and now I have to actualizate forum.

So i need export only forum nodes, aktualizate them from 5 to 6 a import them.

Is it possible?

Moving drupal running site to localhost

I have moved entire code and database to localhost, settings.php changed accordingly.

When I move to any page Or node http://localhost/test/node/1 , I am getting as below.
