Upgrading Drupal

I have created Panels 6.x-3.5 format layouts from copying one from the panels folder and changing the column widths, if you put them in /sites/all/modules/panels/plugins/layouts/ they work fine but in /sites/all/themes/mysite.com/plugins/layouts/ they do not show up, I have tried adding plugins[panels][layouts] = layouts to template.php but no effect. Anybody know a fix as I want to keep them in my theme folder.

Does anyone know where to find some up to date acquia_marina plugins deesigned for Panels 6.x-3.5 as panels has gone into retro mode as the /acquia_marina/plugins/layouts for mini panels are too old, dammm....

Is there a way I can get Drupal to automatically download updates for my modules and extract them on the server, as currently I have to manually download, extract and install(copy) these modules to the server hosting the site, while what I want is may be get Drupal itself to scan the modules installed for a site (like it does when running cron), check for updates, get those updates by itself, and then run update.php to complete any update to new versions...?

I come from the Wordpress world and this is my first encounter with Drupal. First thing I have notice is the "un-simplicity" :-) So here are my questions

1) Client hasn't updated since D6.10. Do I need to update all version between 6.10-6.19 or can I simply move to 6.19 directly

2) Several modules need to be updated too. Do I have to upgrade the 6.19 1st (does it matter)

I'm confused.

I can't update any module with drupal. I'm uploading every new version via FTP. I'm deleting obsolete before. I'm running update.php (it shows update 0 of 0 modules) and after that I've got still unupdated versions in versions list (yellow, or pink status). Drupal Core 6.19.

Anybody hase similar issue or some suggestions what to do? I'm 100% suere that correct files are on the server but drupal still shows OLD one... manual update check doesn't help eather. No modules in different directories than main one.

Is there anyway to export my content types using backupandmigrate module?
I need to update from 7.0-alpha6 to beta2 can I use backupandmigrate? how can I export my content types in d7 ?
