Still on Drupal 7? Security support for Drupal 7 ended on 5 January 2025. Please visit our Drupal 7 End of Life resources page to review all of your options.
Recently composer added the --patch-only (-p) option to the outdated command. So, recommend using -Dp after -Dm and possibly even -DM to find out what kind of updates there are.
Also consider '--ignore-platform-req php' when using higher version of php is an option for you.
Also suggest to allow ^2.0 for composer/installers:
I've messed up my client's website. Been doing this for years, but somehow this happened for the first time. I've made a mistake during a manual upgrade from 7.89 to 7.90
There was an error during a file upload of one component, so I tried again and the upload still wouldn't finish. So I deleted the entire folder to install a fresh copy in case it got out of sync during an internet disconnect.
Now, I can't get back into the Drupal site. No login page available and the following error code appears on the main page. Thank you in advance.
About a year ago I installed Drupal 9.1.6 on a server; annd, with some difficulty got to the stage where I had the front page. I did not install any modules - not even a theme!
Since then I got diverted onto other things and continued using my old Drupal 7 site.
I now need to upgrade to version 9 which, as 9.1 is no longer supported means upgading to 9.3.
Going through the instructions to upgrade to 9.3 I get an error message to tell me that I need to use Composer version 2, but I currently have version 1.0.
