Upgrading Drupal

I have an active install of Drupal 5.5 and I'm trying to find out what the last tested versions of LAMP components are.

Searched and search but cannot find anything. Any help/links greatly appreciated.

Website update fails on drupal 6.37! Anything?

there is nothing to add to the subject, I just want to copy all contents from a Drupal 6.x to 7.x.
Contents are text and pictures, nothing funny extra things, apart a menu structure create during posting.
I guess the Database has been changed in 7, therefore I would be very gratefull to anyone who can give a nice hint of how this could be achieved.

I used drush to update my Drupal 6 sites but it fails on my Drupal 7 site.

drush updatestatus works fine
but drush updatecode fails with:

'update via drush: "Illegal string offset 'site' backend.inc:1030"'

I used drush 7 and then updated composer and installed drush 8: each time the result was exactly the same.
I am a newcomer to drush.

Please help.

On one of my sites when I upgraded to 7.39 during the requirements checking it failed with the message "Requires: Block (missing). Now this is a drupal core module, yes? I went to "modules" in the Admin and it showed this same error within the "Dashboard" module. Is this something I need to be worried about?

Incidentally I bypassed the error so I could finish the upgrade process.

For some reason I updated all the updates requested and it crashed the website. Any way of going back into the website. It keeps giving me an HTTP 500 Error. Any ideas.
