Upgrading Drupal

Greetings, I'm new to the forums. If I've posted this to the wrong location please let me know and I'll remove it.

Never Mind. Everything is fine for the moment!

Today I tried to upgrade an existing Drupal website from core 7.41 to core 7.42.
When I opened my site after having completed all the upgrade steps, there were several problems with different content types.
Some fields were removed!
Anyone can help?
Clearing caches etc didn't help. I restored a backup for now (files & db).

over the past 2 years i have tried several times to upgrade my drupal 6 installation to drupal7. each time i do, i get the white screen of death.
i do not see any errors when i do.

pls. help, i need to get to drupal8 so this is still step 1 of stage 1 of a long journey.
ps. if there is a workaround, pls do tell

I updated some modules and after I clean cache from admin panel in "Performance" window I got this error:

PDOException: SQLSTATE[42S02]: Base table or view not found: 1146 Table 'idealpvc.image_dimensions' doesn't exist: SELECT * FROM {image_dimensions} id WHERE id.fid IN (:fids_0); Array ( [:fids_0] => 59 ) in file_entity_file_load() (line 225 of /home/idealpvc/public_html/sites/all/modules/media/file_entity/file_entity.module).

Updating to drupal 7.42 has crashed blocks display with any of the themes tested. Any idea to solve this issue?
