Why run update.php?

Hello,

I have just installed Drupal 8.2.6 without problems. After installing the files, I logged in to the admin site. In "Status report" there was a message "Database updates: Old". (Maby not correctlyt translated). There was a link to an update script. I ran the script and updated the database. I went back to "Status report". The database was now up to date.

The above procedure is much simpler than first edit settings.php to "true", run update.php and finaly change back settings.php to "false". Mostly there are no updates.

Update.php run on Drupal 8.2.5 leads to white screen

Hi,

I was doing a minor update from 8.2.5 to 8.2.6 and when I was running the update.php I received a white screen of death.

Then, I went into setting.php and set the $settings['update_free_access'] = FALSE; to TRUE. It still would not update.

Next, I restored my site to its previous version, the one that worked. It is now working just fine.

So...before trying to update again, I ran update.php to see if it would update. It did not. It too created the WSOD.

How do I fix this before trying to update again?

Thanks,

Stephen

Unable to update modules

Hello,

I have created a Intranet with Drupal for a company 2 years ago.

There is a problem now and i don't know how to fix it.

When I try to update a module I get the following error:

Er is een AJAX HTTP fout opgetreden. HTTP-resultaatcode: 500 Debug informatie volgt. Pad: /batch?id=254&op=do Statustekst: Internal Server Error Antwoordtekst: {"status":true,"percentage":"100","message":"1 van 1 gereed.\u003Cbr \/\u003E"}

Error database update

Hi,

I'm working on a site and updated the version recently. Everything worked fine, until now.
The status report said I had to update my database. So I did. Or at least I tried.
I reveived next error:

Warning: PDOStatement::execute(): MySQL server has gone away in DatabaseStatementBase->execute(...

Warning: PDOStatement::execute(): Error reading result set's header in DatabaseStatementBase-...

Database won't update after core update

I'm working on updating a website from 7.2.1 to the latest Drupal 7 release (7.53). I did a manual core update. Then ran update of modules and themes. Next step is updating the database, but it doesn't go through. The Drupal database update page is stuck on the "Overview" stage, and when I press "Continue" it just remains on the same page (the url changes, though). At the same time, I'm logged in as admin, and can view admin pages, but cannot complete any operation. I either get an "access denied" or a notification that the form is out of date (and changes made are not saved).

Update Bootstrap theme

How can I update my theme bootstrap, from version 7.x-3.0 to 7.x-3.10 version?
