Drupal 8.x

Hi,

I need a basic Drupal (8), without too many modules, only basic ones: pathauto, token, redirect etc. and possibly webform.

Do I need to install drupal with composer?

I searched for documentation, but installing Drupal with composer does not seem easy.

Is it necessary or can i install Drupal 8 manually as Drupal 7 without problem?

I am learning while building my first Drupal website. I have being trying to change the permalinks for my pages as I think that format of node# is not SEO friendly, I would prefer using the title of the page as the link name.

Is there a setting, or something I can do to this us?

I know this is likely a question so basic that most people will be laughing, perhaps even chortling.  But I come from a non-CMS background where to increase a font, say, or choose a different font-family, one simply navigates to the whatever.css file and finds the right line and changes it.  It's usually quite easy to read, too.

I am kind of blown away at the difficulty of doing something as simple as identifying the title of my Bartik page and changing its color.

I was reviewing code of a contrib module to see if I understand it. Below is the code snippet from one file:

Layout Builder errors.

When I in the content type tried to activate Layout Builder then I had a screen saying "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later." When I then check the log there are more warnings than I've seen acumulated in my entire life and one error and they are all PHP related. I'm on 8.6.4 and php7.2

Does anyone have a clue what it is about?
