Drupal and community

Hi , i'm new to drupal ( i'm new for all type of cms never used one but i know css php and html ) . I need a Cms for build a community site for irc . So i need that people register , make custom profiles , upload personal photo , possibility to send mass emails to users registered , some news from the site , a forum and possibility to insert new function based on modules that i find interesting . i also need that a some person can insert news on the site without to much knowledge of php and html . i don't know if drupal is too much for me .

User access granularity

Looking at the way Drupal seems to handle user access (via roles unless there's another way) seems to be very broad-brush in that I can give a particular role access to ALL the blogs and forums on a site or no access to them at all.

I want to be able to have some blogs & forums visible to anyone and others restricted to specific roles (in this instance to logged in club members). Can this be done and how?

Jboss & Drupal

We have an J2EE application running on JBOSS. We would like to use Drupal for user management as well as supporting forums. Does anybody integrated Jboss with Drupal. Could you please provide any useful links. Appreciate looking into the issue.

Does Drupal architecture diagram exist?

I'm new here and trying to understand architecture of Drupal. I was not able to find an architecture diagram... so far. Is this correct that Drupal should be installed on the same web server with my web site and share the same environment? If so, it should be very dependent on environment which supports by web hosting provider. What should I take in account in order to find correct web hosting provider to be able to use Drupal?

Is Drupal right for me?

Hello. I've had a personal web site online for more than ten years now, with some long-established URLs that have dozens or even hundreds of outside links pointing to them.

My site is mainly a showcase of my songs and essays. I would like to enable visitors to leave publicly viewable comments on the individual song or essay pages. All my pages are valid html and css.

I have three questions:

Can Drupal do this?

Will it work with a Windows IIS server and FastCGI? I might be able to get the tech at my host to change the FastCGI part for my subsite only.
