Doubts about taxonomy

I want to migrate a site about original videos and comics from Wordpress to Drupal and I'm not sure about how to manage the taxonomy system.
I have 5 ways to classify my current content: Tags, format, author, year and series. Currently I have those assigned via the tags system and four categories with a lot of subcategories for each one, but I suppose that in Drupal one may do that more elegantly.

  • The tags are easy because I can use a free-tagging taxonomy, although there can be some modules that help.
  • The format is distinguished by different content types—one for videos, other for comics; because each one need special options for CCK fields and such.

College Newspaper

I want to make a web portal for my campus newspaper. does anyone have pointers in doing so? would it be a good idea to use the collaborative book for making up to date news for campus students? please let me know on how to get this started.

Thanks

Drupal and User Generated Content Site

Can I build a user generated content website using Drupal? By this I am not meaning any kind of forum, I am meaning with Article website just like Hubpages.com and Squidoo.com.
Seriously, can such websites be created over drupal? I have heard a lot of Drupal's flexibility. Can it be converted into an article website just like HubPages and Squidoo where users registers themselves, create content in the form of articles, market their content, drive traffic and earn money on revenue sharing basis.
If yes, can somebody tell me how to do that.

relations

I'm a Drupal noob, so please bear with me :)

We're trying to find out if Drupal 6.x will enable us to make a Drupal application (not really a website, not really a CMS although we want to use some of those features too) that will allow us to translate a database scheme (about 20 tables with 1:n, n:m etc. relations) into Drupal. We want to use standard Drupal functionality as much as possible, some modules (as long as they are alive) is fine too.

How can I create a site like that?

Hi, everyone.

I am totally new to the community and this is my first post here.

I want to create a user-and-search-engine-friendly personal site of mine where I blog about what interests me. I also want to create an online community around it, as it becomes more popular. Apart from the blog, I am going to need a home page, a bio page, an article/archive page, a contact page and probably a forum. Design-wise, I am thinking of something similar to the structure of 43folders.com

I've looked into the strengths of Drupal and it seems to be a very suitable alternative to the Dreamweaver/CSS way I've been doing things. I am building a brand new site, so I won't be converting to Drupal from an existing one; I'll just build it from scratch.

I am definitely sold on Drupal 6, but I am facing a few difficulties. First, the installation process (especially when installing locally) is a big mess for me. I came across a few articles on how to install Drupal using WAMP Server and a recent blog post which showed in detail how to install the Apache/MySQL/PHP programs separately. I am one of these people that want to get themselves started on the right foot, so I am wondering which way to go.

Should I install the programs separately, or try the package?

choose the CCK Field A, he could have access only to A field, B, C & D will be not displaying, HOWTO?^^

Hello,

When a user create a account in my site, he has to choice between differentes values reprensenting a CCK Link Field (A, B, C & D)
If he chooses the CCK Field A, he could have access only to A field, B, C & D will be not displaying.

I'm questionning about the way to realize that...

I was thinking to use "role access" but it's not a good choice. Anyway, users can't choose a role access...
