I've a friend who owns a very simple static webpage for a chairty. It costs them money every time they want to make a simple update.
I told them they should use a CMS instead, so they can make posts, news updates, add photos themselves.
However, while as a developer I find Drupal absolutely brilliant, logic, and very extendable, I just know that the person in question (and many others) would find all the options in the admin section of a drupal site very daunting.
In looking at the forums - they really aren't that good and searching for drill down is non-existent unfortunately. But what also is irking is that there isn't a way to reference each individual post as it's own page as it is with many forums. Isn't this very poor for seo? Essentially right now it looks like drupal is listed based upon the thread of an entire page and not invividual posts. Not sure if good or bad.
I'm looking to start a project where I'd like to have it possible for users to register their own blog, and then be able to just goto username.domain.tld to access their site. Could someone point me in the right direction where I could achieve something like this? If Drupal doesn't do it, what might I look for in the FOSS world that would support where I'm going with this?
I need to build a website that will allow users to upload/download files. After the files are uploaded users will be able to search for them based on certain criteria. Also, it would need to have a forum and user account options, so only users can upload/download files. In short its a site for sharing and finding code for hardware applications. Any thoughts?
Before I start I am a complete beginer to Drupal. We are in the process of developing an intranet site to allow persons to lookup queries they may have in there work. The site will have a navigation pane on the right listing PDF documents and also links to other web reference sites. All information will be displayed on the left while the nav menu remains in place. We had hoped to be able to open other business applications within the site while keeping the nav pane. This would allow users to quickly jump to information when required. Is this possible?
