I am new to the community and to Drupal. I have lots of experience in Wordpress and Joomla.
I need to build a Social Networking site to connect Investors with Entrepreneurs. The entrepreneur needs to be able to upload his business plan, and the Investor can make contact with him. Which plugins do I use?
I currently have a wordpress blog called www.urban-Lyfe.comwhich is geared towards providing an extra platform for models and music artists on their grind. By January 2015, I plan on turning my blog into a full fledge social network. There are quite a bit of features that I will like to include in my site that will make it fun and appealing to my members. My question is; If Drupal does not have every feature that I need, will Drupal allow me to have extra features added through an outside developer of my choosing?
Basically, I want to create a simple dictionary website where users can contribute a word and a definition. I'd like other users to be able to add separate definitions to already defined words and maybe these definitions can be sorted by its usefulness. I'd also like the ability to upload images for certain words. Can I do this with drupal? Are there any specific modules I'd need?
I have been watching some Drupal-tutorials lately and found that often using drush is recommended.
However, I'm not sure how to use it. I only do small websites for friend and relatives and normally I install Drupal on a webspace, choose a theme, do some configurations through the web-interface and then design everything in css.
I cannot use SSH on my webspace so I can't use drush, right? I found, that most providers won't let u use SSH, so how do you use drush?
Do you create your websites on your local machine and then migrate them?
Building a interactive portfolio site that will rely heavily on html5 canvas to provide "flash-like" experience with custom graphic elements, similar in ways to this site: http://www.big.dk/. Is it reasonable/appropriate to use drupal for this? Not that experienced with drupal or javascript, but know enough to get a through a project like this if I can get pointed in the right direction.
