Is Drupal a viable solution for my website? Please review What is Drupal before posting.

drupal for my book club

I recently started a book club built with phpbb. You can check it out at www.pinoybookclub.com. Then, I wanted to expand it from a phpbb discussion board to a community portal. I've already outlined the features in the join (or registration page). Also, I've already coded the classifieds ads module.

Installing without cmd line access to server

I am going to attempt to install Drupal on an Apache 1.3 hosting package but I really do not have server access via the command line. Therefore the installation instructions are difficult to apply to a windows based or straight FTP access install. Does anyone have any insight as to if I am going to have many issues with my install attempt?

Review site - Drupal good choice?

I'm going to set up a review site for products, and would like to know if the drupal is a good match for what I'm doing.

The basic features I'd like are the following. Please let me know which ones are supported by Drupal or it's modules, and which aren't.

Download and Bookmark modules

Hi,

I come from Mambo.

I want to know if there's any modules that look like the download and bookmark modules in mambo.

In Mambo, I can categorize and sub-categorize the download and the bookmarks.
Users can submit downloads and bookmarks or not. But the administrator has to validate them.

The downloads and bookmarks are visible for all and classed by category and subcategory.

If it's possible to restrict a category of download for a group, it's better.

Thanks for your responses.

Paid installation and modules

Sorry to bother everyone again.
Have been looking at Drupal and getting more impressed, along with more confused as I try to relate it to others like Tikiwiki.
Have just looked at
http://www.electroniclife.org/
and liked the layout and the long list of modules used, but assuming these do not come in the basic package, wondering if there are people who can install these for a fee, probably along with the main Drupal site, as not too confident the Fantastico will be up-to-date.

A blog combined with a forum?

No, I don't mean just a site that has a blog, and also has a forum....

I'd like to have a (one-person) blog with comments, with all the standard features of Drupals blogs. As it happens, I'd like to have the last few posts appear in full on the front page, regardless of length (as opposed to the more commercial format of displaying teasers or just the first 100 words etc). I've already found the appropriate settings for this, in a test installation.
