Hi all,
total newbie to drupal, though comfortable with all web topics (database, coding etc). I was about to download drupal 4.7, but i read on the modules page in drupal that:
"Only use matching versions of modules with Drupal. Modules released for Drupal 4.6 will not work for Drupal 4.7."
Does this mean I should download an older version of drupal (i got 4.5 from download.com) if I want to integrate some of the modules?
I'd like to know if Drupal's a sensible solution for my client's needs. I've been playing around with Drupal for the past month or so, and I think I'd be able to develop a site using it, but I don't want to waste any more time if there are better options available.
It's a site for a photographer who wants to have :
Easily updatable galleries for photographs - he's not very technical and wants easy to upload new pictures to the site and maintain existing ones with minimal effort
E-Commerce - ordering prints of the photos and other items (mousemats, posters etc)
A blog - it's a site for a wildlife photographer who also would like to write an online diary, so a blog would be ideal.
Article library - he's also written a number of magazine and newspaper articles and would like to have some of those online too
It's not going to be a community-based site (he's the only author) which is why I'm questioning the suitability of Drupal which seems to be focussed more to sites with multiple authors. I'm looking at one of the following:
Building it all myself from scratch
Using Wordpress and Gallery (which I've used extensively) along with simple PayPal buy now buttons
ZenCart - again, I've done sites with this before
Drupal - which seems to have all of the available functionality in various modules, but I'm not sure it's the best solution
Before starting to work, I wish to know if it is safe to go the cck + views route ?
Are these modules ok for production sites ? Or is an "official" release of these modules planned for 4.8 (in this case I should wait ) ?
Hey folks. I think I have chosen Drupal for my website`s CMS. What I would like to do, is install it in its on folder at first on my website, change my html content that I have now into my new drupal CMS, and then move it to the "root" when I have done so.
What issues would I have to look at in doing this? I have created the database for Drupal, so that is ready to go.
