Is Drupal a viable solution for my website? Please review What is Drupal before posting.

Was planning on using Mambo... but...

I dont know anymore.

For one, there is very limited funcitonality with CiviCrm, and I really kind of need to be able to use it fully.

Mambo has FacileForms, and I designed a bunch of custom forms to process registration information and store it in the database.

How is Drupal in this regard? I am developing for a nonprofit, right now.

Thanks,

Josh

website with context-oriented navigation

Hi,
does Drupal offer using a context-oriented navigation scheme which would be able to replace tree-based navigation? My wish is to only have a top-level navbar for the most important entries and have a "Related Pages" section on the right of every page which generates a list of pages based on the current page's categories (there will be multiple), other pages' importance, and possibly even the current page's content.

Is there any good module? Taxonomy_context doesn't take multiple categories into account and I've read that it's buggy.

Thanks!

Different Member Types

Hi there all,
I am wanting to utilise drupal for my latest project but first i am just wanting some advice regarding the functionality of the site.

I need to have to different registration types.

1. will be a member that will pay a 12 month subscription and for this money will be assigned a public page viewable by all and editable by themselves.
2. will be an end user who will register for free with no time restraint and be able to add the subscription paying member pages to their favourites.

Gallery, Forum users?

Hi,

I am interested in using Drupal for a Photographic Society's web site. What I would like is a site where club members only could log-in and upload pictures to their personal galleries which the public could view and possibly comment on, plus a forum that anyone could register with allowing discussions on photography etc.

So, is it possible to have a group of users that have access to both the forum and are able to upload images to their own gallery and a group that only have access to the forums?

Any advice gratefully received.

Kevin

Is it Possible - Duration of registration restriction

Hi, was just wondering whether Drupal (or add-in) would cater to at least 2 registration duration categories ie,

Member - 1year from date of registration
Life Member - ad infinitum

Drupal vs. WordPress--how much of my site will be controlled?

I have been designing static web sites for 11 years, the last 6 of which I've been using Dreamweaver. I have a background in various coding languages (C, C++, some Java, Javascript) though I haven't coded in a while. I'm learning PHP now.

I've been considering either Drupal or Wordpress now that I'm moving toward dynamic content. My issue is understanding how to incorporate these tools with my vision. Whatever I choose, I'm going to need to create my own custom theme. Here are the sites where I'm making decisions on what to use:

Site 1: this site is already up as a static site, www.alixnorth.com. It has some articles and a gallery of my art. I want to redesign the look and strucure, as well as add a blog. It seems wordpress is enough for that, but I take it Drupal could also help me with the galleries.

Site 2: Currently undeveloped, this site would feature a blog with challenges for artists, so it would be great if they could post images in their comments to challenges. I'd also like a series of galleries on this site, a collection of project instructions, and I'm not sure what for the future. I could handle the galleries and instructions statically, or maybe do something with Drupal?

If you have any thoughts on how Drupal fits in with my plans, I'd love to hear what you have to say. I take it ALL content would be managed by Drupal and I'd simply create the theme with Dreamweaver (using the instructions here)? Drupal does have an edge on Wordpress in terms of having a way I can use Dreamweaver for themes.
