I am a believer in this. I think also popularity is a form of power. Drupals popularity is growing and with that growth the power that Drupals developers have is growing. There seems to be a problem though. The responsibility factor is not growing within those that claim to be part of the Drupal team.
All to frequently those that are near the core group are quick to be rude and venemous to anything that does not suit their way of thinking. Asking a simple question may not trigger this. But give your opinion or a suggestion that does not line up with their personal belief or philosophies on Drupal and you bring the rath of some very irresponsible people. You will be attacked personally or asked to do things yourself when it is really not something you can do for lack of time or knowledge.
I am not an anthropologist (economics is my trained field) but I get the feeling that their must be reason for this.
I seem to remember one user posting on the return value that participation in opensource projects gives. Maybe this return value is corrupting? Possibly. But I tend to believe that some participants cannot handle the responsiblity that they have sought and been given. Many do very well and thrive under the pressure of the attention. Others do do not.
I hope that the situation improves with time because Opensource is not just about the code. It is also about open com
I was posting some code on my site and have code enabled.. but it deoes not seem to fliter it at all.
The code is hidden from view. Am I missing something? I tried BBcode but that is not the answer either.

I am adamantly against the standard use of coding when it over-complicates the simple. I have seen too many good things get ruined by the use of convoluted PHP to accomplish simple HTML output. This type of coding usually comes out when the programmers try and make it "easy" and "scalable" and "reusable" down to the use of a simple paragraph tag.
