Let me say what I want to do and please tell me how can I do it in Drupal!
1. I want a block that has 10 latest links.
2. I want people to be able to add a new link either from the menu or by typing in the details in the block itself (preferred).
3. I want the following fields for the link: name for the link, url, small description and category optionally.
4. I want people to be able to comment on the links.
5. Finally, but this is optional, I want to be able to organize the submitted links into categories, like a book.
I'm considering using Drupal for the site I manage, but was wondering if there is a way to automaticly have news items published and expire based on date and time. This seems like a standard feature for a CMS software but I haven't found documentation oh how to do it. So far I haven't found it in a temporary install either.
Thought this posting about use of 4.6 with ecto was interesting: Drupal 4.6's blogapi module improves significantly on things and allow me to add any content I want (with sanity limitations) via ecto. ecto
Today I tested out an Eclipse plugin that supports the Blogger API and was able to easily post a blog to RobsHouse.net using it. I did a writeup here: http://www.robshouse.net/blogging_with_eclipse
After I posted the blog using Eclipse I then added the screenshots using img_assist.
