What is drupals viewpoint on accessibility?

Are there any plans to make future version of drupal / force skins to be 508 (is that the correct number)compatible?

It seems to me that with a few changes or a small module the search feature could be dramatically improved.

Most people have a taxonomy similar to this:

A great search feature would be if using a set of drop down menus the searcher could choose what they wanted. For example:

All NEWS about APPLES in SPAIN

or

ALL REVIEWS on ORANGES in UK

Is the Ecademy platform available as a white label?

This post would seem to suggest that it is - http://www.ecademy.com/node.php?id=738 - as well as the fact that the platform is a customised version of the Drupal.

Does ecommerce module provide this functionality ?

I like the community/interactive features of Drupal (blogs and such). But I have yet to see a major/professional/big/quality site use drupal to post "formal articles". An example of what I mean as a formal articles is this:

Are there any drupal sites publishing mainly formal articles and not blogs/news? I'd love to learn about how they structured the taxonomy.
