I'm not even sure this subject title is the correct sentence, but it sort of encapsulates what i'm trying to say. And hopefully enough people read it?
What I am thinking of doing and I'm again very very new and would appreciate any comment is how do i give back to the community? I am thinking like this, I have a site which can be commercialised... or a concept or and a site which is based on drupal which I think can benefit from a different ownership structure, ie. giving back to the community, ie. give back and allow the legal ownership to rest with the Drupal foundation and to which commercial rewards (if any) fllows back to the Drupal community?
Is there such a system or framework or legal system in place that allows it?
Firstly my thoughts are,
(a) the project can benefit from the community and its developers, it can stand as an achievement to the foundation and of the system.
(b) it allows me to free myself up and take say a small royalty or some sort
(c) its profitable and the community wins as the profits other than payment of royalty is ploughed back into the organisation, it becomes a non profit organisation of sort?
In other words, the drupal foundation undertakes or participates in commercial activity for its own benefit?
Does this make sense? Of course only if the foundation committee felt my project has merit? It would be a testatment to other communities and make Drupal a stronger force?
