I am currently running wordpress and my contractor website is currently about 500 pages. I was hoping to add a lot of functionalities like material calculators when doing a home improvement project.
I also want to use different templates depending on which category a post is in so garage door and roofing pages don't look the same. Right now, I can manage to do a lot of the stuff myself but I don't know how to code. Would drupal be too confusing to use for my contractor site? How fast does Drupal load compared to Wordpress?

We're developing a site in Drupal that will have a paid-access web application, and I'm wondering if the public-facing marketing/informational content and the paid-access part of the site should be built into one Drupal installation, or if the public-facing site should be built in its own Drupal installation and the application in another.
Drupal multisite is not an option because the hosting platform (Pantheon) doesn't support it.
