Our company has been wrestling with a way to use ubercart for a multi-vendor store. While a module is potentially in the works according to forum searches, the idea hit me last night that a user reference application might also solve the problems.

As I see it, the problems are specifying who receives the payment, grouping the item by it's vendor, and all types of cross-linking between vendor/items (i.e. show other items by vendor, show vendor profile, etc)

I am a traditional wordpress user, however my new project requires a more flexible approach. My main concern is, I want to layer my application. Base layer being controlled by Drupal engine and my visible layer to the user have my own custom theme and design. The issue with wordpress is the themes for the most part somewhat had visual requirements (Sidebar somewhere etc etc). Are there any "aesthetic" design concerns i have to abide by when designing the PSD for drupal?

Interesting question for everyone. So I have am thinking of adding a "university attended" field to the profile page of members. I guess I am trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I was originally thinking of a text field, but than I thought you could get multiple instances of of university names, making it hard to sort people by school (ie. UF, University of Florida, Florida, U of F, etc). I then began to think about creating a drop down, but I wasn't quite sure where I could get a listing of all the schools.
