Small site upgrade issue

I've been able to successfully upgrade some of my sites to D7, but this one very small site is giving me a headache.

Running update.php, I get:

An AJAX HTTP error occurred. HTTP Result Code: 500 Debugging information follows. Path: http://www.fourtiresandfuel.com/update.php?id=16&op=do StatusText: Service unavailable (with message) ResponseText: Recoverable fatal error: Argument 2 passed to SelectQuery::fields() must be an array, null given, called in /home/hoslot5/public_html/includes/entity.inc on line 284 and defined in SelectQuery->fields() (line 1262 of /home/hoslot5/public_html/includes/database/select.inc).

Followed by:

Can't login with Internet Explorer - Is there a server side fix yet?

There are many posts about this but none I have tried offer me a solution.

With most of my fairly newbie users using IE, I discovered that once registered, they were unable to login using IE (6/7/8/9). No errors, just refreshes the login (Home) page, but they are not logged in. This is fixed client side by dropping privacy settings to LOW, and I have had to put up a help page for those users.

Has anyone sorted this out server side?

Advice for learning site

Hi Drupalers,

I have a site to do which includes a feature where registered users can sit multichoice tests, I need them to be able to see their test scores in their user profile for each test, if they attain a high enough score, they get a PDF certificate, they can sit the tests multiple times. I also need simple classifieds and a public searchable listing of some custom profile fields.

Normally I would build this sort of thing with CakePHP, but I saw a fascinating video on Slashdot in February where a guy used Drupal to build a very fast app.

PDOException: SQLSTATE[42000] [1044] Access denied

I am getting this error after i completed my site and was adding media galley module

PDOException: SQLSTATE[42000] [1044] Access denied for user 'vermasee_drpl1'@'localhost' to database 'vermasee_drpl1' in lock_may_be_available() (line 165 of /home/vermasee/public_html/includes/lock.inc).

Plz help me to solve this issue

Cannot save! File uploads produce unkown error on multiple Drupal installations.

I have a few Drupal sites that I've been building on a shared hosting environment at GoDaddy.
They're all in their respective folders on the server - multiple installs of slightly different builds, but all D7.

One day last week, all my Drupal sites failed to accept any kind of uploads. Images, PDFs, movies being uploaded, whether through the stock image field, or Media module, or Mediafront, or CKEditor, or Rotating Banner, would all produce the following error:

• The file IMG_XXXX.JPG could not be saved. An unknown error has occurred.
• The file in the image field was unable to be uploaded.

Just tried a fresh Drupal install (DEV dated May 14, 2011) and I'm still getting above error.

Looking at the log messages under the Report section, I inspect the error titled "The file upload failed. field_imagetest_und_0", and the only other information I can discern is from a link next to LOCATION which yields a block of greek-to-me text :
